Our brand-new grammar section offers the following new features:
- 4000 grammar sentences usable in activities such as Type-in gap fill, multi-choice, Millionaire, Matching, Memory, Hangman, Flashcards and Sentence explode.
- Activity sentences can be drawn from individual or mixed grammatical topics. Teachers can choose from: individual selection (e.g. just present -er verbs), multiple selection (e.g. present -er verbs, present -ir verbs), or global selection (e.g. present -er verbs, future -er verbs, conditional -er verbs).
- Over 1000 French sound recordings in the intermediate grammar which may be listened to at normal or 75% speed.
- Self-test games (multi-choice or type-in gap-fill) at the end of most intermediate units.
- Most example sentences in intermediate units contain option to view three more examples.
- Brand new grammar term section allowing testing of word functions (subject, object etc.) and parts of speech.
- Brand new error correction section allowing testing of general grammar, spelling and accents.
- All grammar notes contain an on-hover glossary function for instant help with grammar terms.
- All verb sections contain multi-choice pronoun tester.
- Verb conjugation tester is now fully integrated with the grammar section. The 4000 conjugations are usable in the same activities as the grammar sentences.
- Grammar sentences may also be accessed as a printable list with answers in a separate section.
- Integrated verb conjugator has been fully revised and can be searched by infinitive or conjugated verb form.

Goodness, has it really been nearly a year? Hopefully you’ve noticed that we’ve been working hard on a new grammar notes section. Here’s some of the things we’ve done:
- Added random examples to most of the Intermediate Grammar Units
- Added a ‘test yourself’ exercise to some of the Grammar Units
- Added a ‘listen’ button to some of the Intermediate Grammar Units’ examples – eventually you’ll be able to listen to all the Intermediate Grammar examples in the text
- Built a new grammar exercises section. There are now over eight thousand sentences in the exercises. You can pick one unit, parts of one unit, a variety of units, save your selection and then test yourself with one of our grammar exercises, or print out a list of exercises
- All the games and exercises in the grammar section have been written from scratch in Macromedia Flash, and will eventually appear in the vocab section
Please let us know what you think of the new Grammar section – we’ve worked hard to make sure it all functions properly.
Check back soon for more news about RealFrench.net.

You may have noticed we’ve been working on a different table format for the grammar notes, which we think is now behaving reliably. The work that began with the Advanced grammar notes has also been expanded to add the interactive glossary and table functions to the Intermediate grammar.
We have also updated the grammar notes with a number of corrections kindly pointed out by Ron Bourley, Head of Languages at Shrewsbury Sixth Form College.
And one final note: our site statistics show that we have broken through the thousand visitors a day mark, which is quite exciting. Thank you to everyone who’s been using the site and spreading the word about RealFrench.

Our work on the Grammar section continues. We now have the Advanced grammar notes (about fifty units) live on the site, and we hope you find them useful.
You will probably find a few errors, which only really become apparent to us when the information is in the RealFrench system, as you look through the units. Rest assured we are in the process of fixing the problems.
June 23rd 2004
The Grammar section now has a glossary of grammar terms available in a pop-up window from the home, unit and search pages (just look for the red button in the grey bar on the right hand side).

Voyez, a new section in the Teacher Resource Library presents a list of pictures, with French titles, suitable for printing out and colouring in. The pictures are the result of the hard work of students in MMU’s Faculty of Art and Design, and will be finding their way into other parts of the site soon.
Also, what was the Écouter section has now changed its name (and web address) to the more grammatically correct Écoutez.
June 3rd 2004
After launching RealSpanish.net, we are adding some of the new features we developed for that site to RealFrench.net. First of these is the new flash Hangman game, which you can play in the Vocabulary section. We’ve also made the accent code tool on the homepage a bit more friendly.
There’ll be more features, and hopefully a new look grammar section, being added over the summer.

Apologies for the lack of updates on this page: we do have some interesting things in the pipeline for RealFrench, but at the moment we are busy getting RealSpanish.net up and running. Leave your e-mail address on the RealSpanish page and we will let you know when RealSpanish has gone live.
We have made a few small additions to RealFrench. First, you can now find words in the Écouter section when you search the vocab list. Also, this page is now available as an RSS feed. Just put the web address www.realfrench.net/about/new_rss.php in a newsreader and you’ll know straight away when we add or change something on RealFrench.net.

Sound! Try out Ecouter, our new audio page in the Vocabulary section, which features recordings of hundreds of common French words.
April 27th 2004
We are working on some more features for the site: incorporating sound and more flash games into the vocab section, and looking at the grammar notes again. We’ll announce the features here as they are made available.
We have also made some small improvements for Macintosh users by updating the stylesheets that look after the presentation of the site.
April 7th 2004
Our new business vocabulary mini-site has launched. Let us know if you find the site useful, or if you’d like to see a particular feature added.
NB: The business vocabulary is not available through the normal Vocabulary section.
April 5th 2004
We have updated the vocabulary database used for the games and word lists, including some new sections. The flash games have also been slightly modified, and the site now will only let you play the flash games if you have the flash player installed.
March 31st 2004
There are now three flash games (a matching game, a memory game and a two-player memory game) available in the vocab section. You will need to have the free Flash player on your machine, which can be downloaded here.
They are the first flash games we have hosted on the site, so there may still be some problems with them. We’d appreciate any feedback you may have.
Finally, we’ve added this ‘what’s new’ section today.
