1 Definition
A conjunction is a word or group of words that connects words, phrases or clauses . In French verbs coming after conjunctions can take either the subjunctive or indicative .
2 Conjunctions taking the subjunctive
Je serai parti avant que tu ne reviennes
I will have left before you come back
Ce sentier est trop raide pour que nous puissions le prendre
This path is too steep for us to take it
Je viendrai à la soirée pourvu que ce soit toi qui conduises
I'll come to the party provided that you drive
3 Conjunctions taking the indicative
Nous aimons les chats tandis que vous préférez les chiens
We like cats whilst you prefer dogs
Il est devenu beaucoup plus indépendant depuis qu'il est étudiant
He's become much more independent since he's been a student
Il a beaucoup changé pendant qu'il était à Manchester
He changed a lot when he was in Manchester
